Welcome to Pedrógão Pequeno.

This beautiful village near Zêzere river’s bank, in central Portugal, was founded in 150 a.C. by the roman consul Aulo Curcio. It was conquered by the moors in 718 and eventually reconquered by the Portuguese king D. Afonso II in 1216.

It is a place of breath-taking natural landscape, excellent gastronomy and rich heritage. You will find historical bridges, such as Ponte Filipina, the Barragem do Cabril, a dam that is one of the most important reservoirs of fresh water of the country, and catholic chapels such as Capela de Nossa Senhora da Confiança in the same hill where our venue is located. Here you can also find traces of human activity dated from the Bronze Age.

Pedrógão Pequeno village is one of the 27 Aldeias do Xisto (Shale Villages), of which the primary material of construction is the shale rock. These villages are integrated in a regional program aiming at preserving the landscape, culture and tradition as well as promote local tourism.
